What to expect
The Resilience Project is proud to have partnered with over 1,500 schools and early learning centres around the country, using storytelling, humour and evidence-based principles to inspire and support the wellbeing of educators, students and their families.
The Resilience Project’s Teacher Seminar is a fully-catered professional development event designed by educators, for educators. It’s aimed at empowering teachers with tools to improve their students’ mental health as well as look after their own wellbeing. With a Net Promoter Score of 90% across our 2024 tour, we’re gearing up to do it all again in 2025.
Our Teacher Seminar will contribute 3 hours and 30 minutes of NESA Accredited PD in the priority area of Student/child Mental health addressing Standard Descriptor(s) 4.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
Who are the Teacher Seminars for?
The Teacher Seminar is a fantastic opportunity for all educators (secondary, primary or early childhood) who:
- Would like a refresher on The Resilience Project
- Are new to teaching The Resilience Project curriculum
- Are looking for more ideas to build resilience in their school
- Would like to meet and network with other like-minded educators
- Are not yet working with The Resilience Project, and would like to know more

Develop positive mental health habits and build resilience.
Build resilience in their students through simple daily activities.
Help parents support their children to become more resilient.
Seminar schedule & session information
9.00am – 9.30am: Arrival and registration
9.30am – 10.45am: ‘Discovering Resilience’ with Hugh van Cuylenburg
10.45am – 11.15am: Morning tea
11.15am – 12.15pm: ‘Teaching Resilience – The Resilience Project in Action’
12.15pm – 1.15pm: ‘Teacher Wellbeing Workshop’
1.15pm-2.00pm: Lunch
2.00pm – 3.15pm: ‘Authentic Connection’ with Martin Heppell
3.30pm: Event concludes
SESSION 1: DISCOVERING RESILIENCE
Presenter: Hugh van Cuylenburg (Founder)
Hugh will share the importance of wellbeing and strategies to practise Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness (GEM) – the evidence-based principles linked to positive emotions and mental health.
SESSION 2: TEACHING RESILIENCE – THE RESILIENCE PROJECT IN ACTION
Presenter: Elias Karageorgiou (School Partnership Team Leader)
This workshop is designed to inspire your teachers with new ideas & resources to support their students’ wellbeing.
SESSION 3: TEACHER WELLBEING WORKSHOP – LOOKING AFTER OURSELVES
Presenter: Leah Stevenson (Project Advisor & Facilitator)
This workshop gives educators an opportunity to put themselves first, reflect on their current self-care practices and develop an individual wellbeing plan.
SESSION 4: AUTHENTIC CONNECTION
Presenter: Martin Heppell (Partner & Presenter)
Martin will share the power of embracing vulnerability, imperfection and passion to building connection – and the positive impact this can have on us both personally and professionally.
