Session information

Session 1

Discovering Resilience

Hugh van Cuylenburg

Founder

Using personal stories, we’ll explore why wellbeing matters now more than ever and how to bring simple, practical strategies into our daily routines, whether at home or in the classroom.

Together, we’ll:

  • Discover why self and student wellbeing are so important right now (and why we need to lead by example as teachers).
  • Learn simple, evidence-based Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness (GEM) strategies you can use right away, at home or in the classroom.

Session 2

Teaching Resilience

Elias Karageorgiou

School Partnership Manager

This session is all about sparking fresh ideas and sharing (even more!) practical tools to help teachers support student wellbeing with confidence and creativity.

Together, we’ll:

  • Explore simple, effective ways to embed a culture of wellbeing in your classroom.
  • Discover new resources to engage and empower students.
  • Leave feeling inspired, equipped and ready to make a positive impact.

Session 3

Looking After Ourselves

Leah Stevenson

Workshop Facilitator

Teaching is one of the most rewarding professions, but it’s also one of the most demanding. With teacher burnout and attrition rates climbing, and depression and anxiety higher than in the general population, supporting teacher wellbeing has never been more important.

Together, we’ll:

  • Reframe current beliefs about stress and how it shows up in our bodies and behaviours.
  • Discuss what self care is (and isn’t) and why it’s so important to make time for ourselves, especially as teachers.
  • Learn simple and effective ways to build GEM habits that integrate into everyday routines.
  • Create a personalised plan (that addresses barriers to practise, too).

Session 4

Resilient Together

Martin Heppell

Partner and Lead Facilitator

Through Martin’s trademark energy and storytelling, he’ll explore how embracing imperfections and demonstrating vulnerability can strengthen connection and support others.

Together, we’ll:

  • Unpack strategies to build connection and a supportive culture.
  • Learn practical ways to bring more authenticity into your work and life.
  • See how this is all possible through vulnerability and embracing imperfection.

Although our Teacher Seminars are designed with primary and secondary teachers in mind, the strategies and resources can be applied to any setting, including those working in early years education, learning support staff and other school inclusion staff.

If you’ve joined us before, you’ll recognise much of the content, but it can be a valuable refresher! Think of it as familiar ideas with fresh inspiration to help further embed wellbeing in your school culture and keep it front and centre in your teaching.

We understand that, but this isn’t just a one day event – it’s a long-term investment in student and staff wellbeing. Teachers leave inspired, equipped with evidence-based strategies to support wellbeing in every classroom and energised to model self-care and resilience. It supports professional learning requirements while giving teachers practical tools they can share with their colleagues to foster a positive culture where both staff and students can thrive.

We’re so lucky to partner with some incredible organisations working to support young people, their educators and their families across Australia. And we’re super excited to have a few of them join us at our Teacher Seminars this year.

Be sure to say hello to them at their stands throughout the day!

Our Teacher Seminar draws directly on strategies from our School Wellbeing Program, which has been shown to reduce depression and anxiety in students by 47% and 34% respectively, thanks to an independent study by Monash University. While this day is tailored for teachers, the approaches are grounded in research and real-world experience, giving you practical, evidence-based tools you can confidently bring into any classroom.
